Veterans' Nursing
Homes of Florida
Any person interested in residency can be referred through a
VA Medical Center. Candidates must be veterans
with qualifying war or peacetime service, be a resident of Florida for
one year immediately prior to applying for admission and must require
long-term care in a skilled nursing facility. For
admission information you may contact the
nearest County Veterans Service Office or
FDVA Service Office. Veterans with
service-connected disabilities or veterans unable to afford nursing
home care will be considered first for residency. You are welcome to
contact the Admissions Coordinator for additional information. Tours
are always welcome.
Purpose
To provide skilled or intermediate type nursing care and related
medical care in VA or private nursing homes for convalescents or
persons who are not acutely ill and not in need of
hospital care.
Admissions criteria
The State Veterans' Nursing Home at
Daytona Beach, Land O' Lakes, and Pembroke Pines, Port Charlotte and Springfield have the
following general admissions criteria.
The veteran must be:
(1) a veteran as
determined under Chapter 1.01 (14), Florida Statutes.
(2) a resident of
Florida and have been a resident for one year prior to application.
(3) in need of
nursing home care for a condition which requires services which fall
within the level of care for which the home has resources and
functional ability to provide.
