To be eligible for the Women's Clinic at
VA facilities, you must have been discharged
from the Armed Forces of the United States under other than
dishonorable conditions.
Services Provided
The same services provided to male veterans are
provided to female veterans plus those services which are gender
related to females. This includes a full range of GYN treatment,
counseling for sexual trauma and other service related mental health
issues and education on preventive health
medical treatment
issues. If needed, and gender related services
are not available at the VA facility, a referral may be made to
another VA or contract facility.
Initial Visit
Your initial visit to the Women's Clinic must
generally start with an initial processing and medical evaluation with
the evaluation clinic. It is recommended
that you bring a copy of your DD 214 on your first visit. After the
initial evaluation, you may be referred to the Women's Clinic for
treatment.
Subsequent Visits
Subsequent visits
should be coordinated with the Women's Clinic. You do not have to go
through evaluation again.
Staffing
When possible the VA facility will have female
care providers treating female veterans. If a female veteran has a
question regarding her treatment program or a problem which needs to
be resolved, each VA facility has a Women Veterans'
Program Manager to offer assistance. When the
Women Veterans' Program Manager is not
available, a Patient Representative is also available for problem
solving.
