The Historical Museum of Southern Florida is located at the Metro-Dade Cultural Center Plaza in downtown Miami.<p>If northbound on I-95, use Exit 4 (NW 2nd Street). Turn right onto NW 2nd Street and right on NW 2nd Avenue for one block. The Cultural Center is on the left.<p>If southbound on I-95, use Exit 5A (Orange Bowl/NW 8th Street). Proceed left onto NW 2nd Street and turn right onto NW 2nd Avenue. The Cultural Center is on the left.<p>Parking is available next door at the Cultural Center parking garage, west of the Cultural Plaza at 50 NW 2nd Avenue. |

The mission of the Historical Museum of Southern Florida is educational, scientific and literary and includes: a museum, a Research Center containing the archives, library and documentary collections of the Historical Association of Southern Florida, publication of historical materials, and outreach to the community through activities and events that enlighten the citizenry about the history of south Florida and the Caribbean.
Reflective of the significant role of South Florida during WWII, the Research Center is a repository of hundreds of photographs, period maps, posters and related materials.
