This site may be visited as part of a tour, which begins at Currie Park in West Palm Beach. To reach Currie Park from I-95, exit onto Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard (Exit 53) and travel east to Flagler Boulevard. Turn left (north) on Flagler Boulevard approximately one-half mile to Currie Park on the right. The tour boat facility is adjacent to the ML King Memorial in the park. <p>In the alternative, water taxi service is available from the marina at Phil Foster Park. From I-95, exit onto Blue Heron Boulevard/SR 708 (Exit 55) and proceed east. After crossing the Blue Heron Bridge, turn left at the first traffic signal to enter Phil Foster Park.

Description:

Located on Peanut Island in the Lake Worth Inlet, this site includes a restored United States Coast Guard (USCG) Station and boathouse. The station, a two-story frame Colonial Revival style structure constructed in 1936, served during World War II as a base for coastal patrols and rescue missions. One of four such stations in Florida, the USCG operated from this site until 1995.
