Governor Signs 2019 Patriot Day Proclamation

TALLAHASSEE – Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed the 2019 Patriot Day Proclamation.  The flags of the United States and State of Florida will be flown from sunrise to sunset at half-staff to commemorate the National Day of Service and Remembrance.  Patriot Day is Sept. 11.

RON DESANTIS, GOVERNOR, PATRIOT DAY: SEPTEMBER 11, 2019. WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, our Nation experienced a series of airline hijackings that led to the worst terrorist attack seen on United States soil; and WHEREAS, Florida will always remember and honor the nearly three thousand innocent men, women, and children whose lives were lost that day; and WHEREAS, our military, law enforcement officers, firefighters, first responders and other emergency personnel showed true, heroism, and we can never thank them enough for the selfless courage they demonstrated in defense of our great freedoms;, and, WHEREAS, these brave men and women who defended their fellow Americans, as well as our Nation's enduring truths. will, never be forgotten and their heroic actions are forever etched into the pages of our Nation's history; and, WHEREAS, that tragedy will always serve as a reminder of the United States of America's tremendous strength and resilience, in the face of devastating loss; and, WHEREAS, as Americans and Floridians, we must work together to ensure that such crimes are never again repeated and that, our Nation remains the land of the free; and, WHEREAS, as one Nation under God, it is our duty to pay tribute to the victims and heroes of the September 11 attacks,, ensuring their memory lives on; and, WHEREAS, by joint resolution, Public Law '07-89, approved December 18, 2001, the Congress Of the United States designated, September 11 Of each year as Patriot Day, and by Public Law approved April 21, 2009, the Congress Of the United, States has requested the observance of September II as an annually recognized NatiOnal Day of Service and Remembrance,, NOW, THEREFORE, l, Ron DeSantis, Governor Of the State Of Florida, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, September 1 It 2019, as, Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
